sacrifice

a ten-year-old boy walks up to his dad and says, "dad, why did Jesus die for me?"
the father says, "well who would you die for?"
the boy answers, "someone i love."
the father replies, "but why would you die for them?"
after several moments the boy finally understood what it took most a while to understand, "He died because He believed in me?"
"yes son."

we have all heard that Jesus died because He loves us, but thats not the only reason. He wouldn't have given up His life if He didn't believe in our ability to do good. He believes in us, let's not let Him down. in movies we see people sacrifice themselves for someone they love. then the person whom the other person died for deals the hardest with the loss and goes into a deep depression. but there is always that one other character who comes up to the depressed character and says, "move on with your live. he or she would not have wanted to die so you could live mourning the loss of his or her life." so live your life for Jesus, because He gave His life for us because He believed in our ability to achieve eternal life with Him.

p.s. keep in mind that i will be practicing what i preach because this blog is about what i have been thinking about, what i have been going through, and what i am trying to do. and if i sound like i have a holier-than-thou attitude i am sorry. i do not mean it. i know that i am in need of His grace more than most out there.
